Art Chicacago VIP Blacack Pass Party Spaceship Earth

On Saturday May 2nd 2009 i4design magazine and the Museum of Contemporary Art (MCA) hosted an evening of cocktails and music at the MCA warehouse for all Black Pass holders attending Art Chicago. Celebrating Buckminster Fuller’s first major American exhibition at the MCA, the evenings theme, Space Ship Earth, brought together artists from around the world to pay tribute to the visionary. Artists, Wolfgang Semmelrock of Vienna, Austria, Peter Macapia of Bridge Gallery in New York and Multi-media artists, Sean M Gallero and Petra Poul Bachmaier of Luftwerk in Chicago all played a part in their interpretation of Bucky Fuller and his mathematical theories through their art and installations.

     

 

Chicago Architecture Foundation’s The Burnham Centennial Ball Attracacts 60 Celebrants

The Chicago Architecture Foundation’s (CAF) 34th annual gala, The Burnham Centennial Ball, attracted more than 600 guests and raised more than $450,000 for youth education programs for The Chicago Architecture Foundation. Held March 21 in Chicago’s beautifully restored Palmer House Hilton Hotel, this year’s gala honored Richard H. Driehaus, Chairman and Cheif Investment Officer, Driehaus Capital Management as well as USG Corporation, accepted by William C. Foote, Chairman and CEO.

 

A Decade of Dignity

The 10th Annual Spirit Awards were held on Thursday, May 14th at the Chicago History Museum where this year’s honorees, The Kohler Company, Interface FLOR and Aimee Nemeckay celebrated with 400 designers and architects. All profits for this event went to Designs for Dignity, whichprovides pro bono design services to area nonprofits thatserve marginalized or at risk individuals.

 

Alison Victoria Collection Launch

The debut party for the Alison Victoria Collection was held at A New Leaf on Thursday, May 14th where the red carpet was rolled out for her new line of modern furniture where the look is clean, sleek and sheik. A portion of all proceeds for this event went to CURE, Citizens United for Research in Epilepsy.
